Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his German counterpart Frank-Walter on Thursday held a meeting in Hamburg and discussed a number of issues, including bilateral relations and the crises in Syria and Ukraine, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The statement added that the two ministers also discussed the results of Germany's OSCE chairmanship.

"The ministers have discussed the current state of affairs in Russian-German relations. An exchange of views on actual issues of international agenda, including… international efforts aimed at settlement of the Ukrainian and the Syrian crises," the statement said, speaking about the meeting on the sidelines of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Ministerial Council.

The 23rd Ministerial Council of the OSCE kicked off earlier in the day and is expected to wrap up on Friday. The event has gathered together diplomats from the OSCE participating states, including Russia and Germany, as well as from 11 partners for cooperation to discuss major security issues.
