MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Sanctions and economic pressure are increasingly frequently being used for political purposes in competition, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday at a meeting of the country's Security Council.

"We need to also think about all threats we will talk about today… Competition for markets, technologies, capitals is increasing with each year. Economic restrictions, pressure, sanctions are more and more often used for political purposes… in competitive struggle," Putin said.
