The new sanctions introduced by Canada against Russian nationals will negatively impact all aspects of Moscow-Ottawa relations, the speaker of the upper house of the Russian parliament, Valentina Matvienko, said Tuesday.

Russia to Respond to Canada’s Sanctions on Crimean Lawmakers
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Monday, the Canadian foreign ministry announced the sanctions against 15 "separatist individuals," including Duma deputies Ruslan Balbek, Konstantin Bakharev, Andrey Kozenko, Svetlana Savchenko, Pavel Shperov and Dmitry Belik.

"As far as Canada is concerned, such a decision will of course impact all aspects of Russia-Canada relations," Matvienko told reprters.

She added that Canada "drives itself into a dead end."
