China expressed its official discontent to Singapore over Singapore's alleged military cooperation with Taiwan, media reported Monday, following unconfirmed reports of seizure of nine Singaporean armored fighting vehicles in Hong Kong.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the media, the Hong Kong Customs seized nine Singaporean armored fighting vehicles Terrex last week. Local media outlets have reported that Singapore has an unofficial military cooperation with Taiwan for decades.

“The Chinese government has always firmly opposed countries that have diplomatic ties with China to have any form of official exchanges with Taiwan, including military exchanges and cooperation … we asked that the Singapore government strictly abide by the One-China principle,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said, as quoted by the Financial Times newspaper.

In September, Singapore and Chinese government-controlled media had a dispute over the claims of Singaporean diplomats' efforts to endorse the Philippines international arbitration case against China’s territorial claims over the South China Sea. The Singaporean side has refuted the allegations.
