South Ossetia autonomous republic’s parliament speaker Anatoly Bibilov has introduced a draft legislation, proposing to hold presidential vote in the republic on April 9, 2017, the parliament’s press service said Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The draft legislation was sent to the parliamentary law committee for consideration.

“The day of the presidential vote in the Republic of South Ossetia, proposed by Anatoly Bibilov, is the second Sunday of the month, when the previous presidential elections … were held and in which the president of the republic was elected five years ago,” the statement said.

Current South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov was elected for a five-year term on April 8, 2012.
