MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The UN General Assembly (UNGA) adopted resolutions that favor deeper cooperation with such organizations as the CIS, the CSTO, the SCO, the International Criminal Police Organization, the Arab League and the Council of Europe.
"The General Assembly… adopted 10 resolutions, nine of them without a vote, encouraging deeper cooperation between the United Nations and various regional organizations to address emerging challenges in sustainable development, fighting terrorism and economic integration," the UNGA said in a statement on Monday.
The SCO was praised by the UNGA for its contribution to efforts to secure peace and sustainable development. Its results in battling terrorism and drug trafficking were also commended by the General Assembly.
The UNGA proposed to hold regular discussions with executives of the regional organizations in order to deepen the multilateral ties.
