"None yet," de Mistura said at the HARDtalk BBC program answering the question whether he talked to somebody from the Trump’s team.
He pointed out that it was necessary to hear Trump’s "real plan about Syria."
"The focus, the priority, is Daesh – fighting terrorism. Secondly, to do, if possible, a deal with Russia. Both points make a lot of sense," de Mistura said commenting on Trump’s pre-election statements on Syria.
He also added that the regardless of the policy of the new US administration, the United States would remain a fundamental player in solving the Syrian issue.
Syria's civil war between the government forces and a wide range of insurgents, including opposition groups and terrorists, such as Daesh and Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly known as al-Nusra Front, or Jabhat al-Nusra), both outlawed in Russia, has raged for some five years and has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.
On September 9, Russia and the United States reached an agreement for a peace process in Syria. A ceasefire stipulated by the deal entered into force on September 12, but while it was supposed to last at least seven days for the next steps to be taken toward the Syrian settlement, it disintegrated soon.
