MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Earlier in the day, Trump and May had their first conversation after his election victory earlier this week.
"The call ended with President-elect Trump inviting the Prime Minister to visit him as soon as possible," the spokesperson said.
Theresa May and Donald Trump agreed that their countries’ bilateral relations were very special, and building on it would be a priority for both of them, the spokesperson said.
"The Prime Minister and President-elect Trump agreed that the US-UK relationship was very important and very special, and that building on this would be a priority for them both," the spokesperson said in a statement.
According to the spokesperson, Trump expressed confidence that this relationship would go "from strength to strength."
"[May] highlighted her wish to strengthen bilateral trade and investment with the US as we leave the EU," the spokesperson said.
