Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev sent a congratulatory telegram to US Vice President-elect Michael Richard Pence, expressing confidence that Moscow and Washington will overcome difficulties in relations and resume full-fledged cooperation, the Russian government press service reported Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Trump won the US presidential elections despite most of the analysts and opinion polls predicting his defeat to Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton. Pence will be the US vice president.

"I would like to reaffirm the readiness for joint constructive work aimed at ensuring stable progressive development of Russian-US relations," the press service quoted Medvedev's telegram.

"I am convinced that building dialogue in the spirit of true equality and respect for each other's interests, our countries are capable of overcoming the current difficult stage and resuming full-format cooperation on all issues of the bilateral and international agenda," Medvedev said.
