The Indian leader is looking forward to working with US President-Elect Donald Trump to take bilateral ties "to a new height".

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated US President-Elect Donald Trump on his stunning victory, which he hopes will take their bilateral relations to a new high.

Speaking at a fundraiser organized by the US Hindu community last month, Trump said India would have a true friend in the White House if he were to be elected president.

The billionaire businessman lauded Indians for being amazing entrepreneurs and said he was looking forward to working together with Modi, whom he described as a great man.
