US Presidential Election 2016: Voting Day and Results
All of these states are blue, with the exception of North Dakota and Idaho.

Hillary Clinton is the projected winner of Oregon, Washington, California and Hawaii.

Donald Trump is the projected winner of Idaho.

The most fascinating part of these races, however, may have been the ballot initiatives.

In California, recreational marijuana use was on the ballot was expected to pass, which it did. There are also new gun control measures, including residents being required to pass a background check each time they purchase ammunition.

Another initiative in the Golden State has been championed by Senator Bernie Sanders, and would limit state-agency spending on prescription drugs, effectively barring them from purchasing at prices higher than "the lowest price paid for the same drug by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs."

The state, home to a quarter of all of the nation’s death-row inmates, was also voting on two conflicting measures regarding the death penalty. If both pass, the one with the most affirmative votes will cancel the other out. The first is to abolish the practice completely, and the second would shorten the appeals process and speed up executions.

Another interesting initiative on the ballot focuses on pornography, requiring actors to wear protection in sex scenes. It would also require producers to pay for exams and vaccinations against sexually-transmitted diseases.

In Washington, an initiative is on the ballot to allow courts to issue temporary orders against people purchasing weapons if their relatives, roommates, or even police believe that they may be violent, a suicide risk, or “exhibiting mental illness.”

An initiative on the ballot is also seeking to raise the state’s minimum wage to $13.50 by 2020.
