MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The draft has been endorsed by the Russian government and now requires Beijing's approval. Medvedev has tasked the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East to negotiate its signing through the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The protocol pertains to an agreement on cooperation between governments of China and Russia and stipulates regular meetings between the heads of state.

The legislation seeks to strengthen practical bilateral partnership between Moscow and Beijing and sets up a commission to jointly develop Russia’s Far East and Baikal region and China’s northeastern provinces.
