A delegation of aviation authorities from Tajikistan arrived in the Russian capital for talks on the potential disruption of air traffic between the countries, a Russian Transport Ministry spokesperson told RIA Novostin on Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A ministry representative said last week that Russia reserves the right to halt air traffic between Tajikistan as of November 8 to defend the rights of national carriers if Dushanbe maintains its policy toward Moscow's fourth international airport Zhukovsky.

"A delegation of Tajikistan's aviation authorities has arrived in Moscow. There will be talks at the Transport Ministry today," the spokesperson said.

Tajik authorities said that the Zhukovsky-Dushanbe-Zhukovsky was a new destination and therefore its use must be negotiated by the respective bodies before any operating permits could be issued.

"Russia's position remains the same for now. The results of the talks will be known in the second half of the day," the ministry spokesperson said Monday.
