MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The speaker of the upper house of the Russian parliament Valentina Matviyenko will pay a working visit to Japan on October 31-November 3.
Matvienko plans to discuss the main areas in cooperation between Russia and Japan, including inter-parliamentary relations, according to chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian upper house of parliament Konstantin Kosachev.
Kosachev said in October that the visit is a part of the preparation for the highest-level meeting between the two states.
The visit is also aimed at getting ready for the December bilateral summit, and at enhancing the long-term bilateral cooperation.
