The leader of the Donetsk People's Republic suspended his decree on holding elections slated for November 6.

DONETSK (Sputnik) — The head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has halted his decree to hold local elections on November 6, Alexander Zakharchenko's spokesperson told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

"The head halted the decree on holding elections scheduled for November 6," Zakharchenko's spokesperson said.

Also on Wednesday, head of the neighboring Lugansk People's Republic Ukraine Igor Plotnitsky issued a decree postponing local elections scheduled for November 6 until further notice.

Holding local elections in Donbass is one of the key stages of Ukrainian conflict settlement in accordance with the Minsk agreements signed in February 2015.
