Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Stephane Dion is meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali in Ottawa for talks on bilateral economic relations, security and other issues, the office of minister of foreign affairs said in a new release on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — From 2014 to 2015, trade between Canada and Bangladesh increased by 25 percent, totaling $2.4 billion last year, which makes Bangladesh Canada’s second-largest trading partner in South Asia, the release noted.

"Canada and Bangladesh have a long-standing bilateral relationship, with ample opportunity to grow, especially in the areas of development and security cooperation, trade and investment, and people-to-people links," Dion stated in the release.

The two ministers will also review elements of the Canada-Bangladesh relationship and discuss continued collaboration on issues of mutual concern, including security, commerce and climate change, the release pointed out.
