MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to Lavrov, "epicenters of instability" have been developed in Syria, Yemen and Libya in recent years.

"This situation is a result of vicious practices of geopolitical engineering of our Western counterparts, the practice of interference into internal affairs of sovereign states, attempts to change undesirable regimes and the so-called democratization in accordance with their own patterns, which forces regional states to accept alien values and models of development," Lavrov said at a conference devoted to the Middle East.

According to the minister, the consolidation of international efforts is necessary in order to overcome the modern challenges, first and foremost, the spread of international terrorism.
