Two senior US diplomats have flown to Cuba to participate in a scheduled human rights dialogue with Cuban officials, the US Department of State announced in a media note.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States and Cuba continue to have serious disagreements on the issue of human rights amid the bilateral normalization process, US President Barack Obama stated at the meeting with the Cuban dissidents in Havana in March.

"Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Tom Malinowski and Acting Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs Mari Carmen Aponte will travel to Havana, Cuba, October 13-15, to co-chair the US delegation for the US-Cuba Human Rights Dialogue," the note said on Thursday.

Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta, Ministry of Foreign Relations Deputy General Director of Multilateral Affairs and International Law will lead the Cuban delegation, the note added.
