US Deputy Defense Secretary Bob Work applauded Hungarian Defense Minister Istvan Simicsko during a meeting in Washington, DC on Hungary's contributions to important military missions against the Daesh terror group, the Department of Defense said in a press release.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Work emphasized that Hungary has also played an important role in NATO's Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan and in the peacemaking process in the Balkans.

"Work expressed gratitude to Simicsko for Hungary’s security contributions to the coalition countering the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant," the release stated on Wednesday.

According to the release, Simicsko has told the United States of Hungary's plans to increase its defense budget and implement modernization strategies in the defense sector.

The Daesh is a designated terrorist organization that is outlawed in Russia and numerous other countries around the world.
