The Obama administration considers the current US relationship with Russia “extraordinarily complicated,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earnest added, however, that Washington and Moscow continue to have a number of "vigorous" disagreements over Syria and Ukraine, among other issues.

"Extraordinarily complicated is one way to [describe] it,” Earnest said at a briefing. "There are areas where the United States and Russia have been able to coordinate effectively. They include removal and distraction of [Syrian President] Bashar Assad's nuclear stockpile."

The spokesman cited space programs as an area in which US-Russia cooperation is close and mutually beneficial.
