A newly-surfaced audio recording from 2005 reveals Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump making extremely vulgar comments about women, something likely to hurt his image among female and Christian-right voters.

Throughout the campaign, the Republican nominee has been criticized for his comments on women, including his lewd comments toward Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, and past statements comparing women to animals

A video obtained by the Washington Post likely will not help correct this image. The recording includes Trump on Bush with Access Hollywood host Billy Bush as the two arrive on the set of a soap opera in which the billionaire was to film a cameo.

Sanders: Trump's Presidency to Be 'Disaster' for US

"I moved on her and I failed. I'll admit it," Trump can be overheard saying in the candid conversation. "I did try and f**k her. She was married."

It is unclear who he is describing or when the event took place, but the video was recorded several months after he married his third wife, Melania.

"And I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture,'" Trump says in the recording.

"I moved on her like a b***h, but I couldn't get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she's now got the big phony t*ts and everything. She's totally changed her look."

The two men then begin discussing actress Arianne Zucker, who is waiting to escort them from the bus to the set, though out of earshot.

"I've gotta use some tic tacs, just in case I start kissing her. You now I’m automatically attracted to beautiful – I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait," Trump says. "And when you're a star they let you do it.

"Grab them by the p***y," he adds. "You can do anything."

While a spokeswoman for NBC Universal, which distributes Access Hollywood, declined to comment, the Trump campaign released a statement.

"This was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago. Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course – not even close," the statement reads.

"I apologize if anyone was offended."

Londoner Loses Fight Against Donald Trump Over 'No-Go Zone' Remarks

The Trump campaign is still addressing fallout from accusations that the candidate sexually harassed crewmembers and contestants on his reality television show The Apprentice. In an interview with KSNV, Trump claimed his comments about the physical attributes of women were “done for the purpose of entertainment.”

"Nobody has more respect for women," Trump stated, adding, “and nobody is gonna defend our country stronger than Donald Trump and I think I’m gonna do very well with women and in fact, I see married women are way up right now in my polls, you see that."
