9/11 Law Makes Washington an 'Unreliable Ally' for Saudi Arabia
ANKARA (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, the US Congress, after overruling President Barack Obama's veto, passed a law allowing victims to pursue a lawsuit against Saudi Arabia for allegedly supporting the hijackers responsible for the September 11, 2001, terror attacks, as most of the terrorists involved were allegedly Saudi nationals.

"We have expressed regret in connection with the adoption of this law by the US Congress. We will take appropriate steps within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which Turkey currently presides over. I have instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice to support Saudi Arabia, so as to correct this big mistake," Erdogan said in an interview with Rotana TV channel in Dubai.

Families of 9/11 victims have campaigned for the law, convinced the Saudi government helped, or at least failed to prevent, the attacks that killed almost 3,000 people.
