MOSCOW (Sputnik) — He added that attempts to find agreement have been so far unsuccessful.

"There are quite sharp and lively discussions on the subject between our representatives and US counterparts," Gatilov said at a conference hosted by the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency.

However, Russia is atill attempting to negotiate with the United States the steps needed to restore the cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria, Gatilov added.

"We are currently attempting to negotiate with the US on what needs to be done in the end to renew the cessation of hostilities," Gatilov said at a conference hosted by the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency.

Moreover, Russia is ready to restore 48-hour humanitarian pauses in Syria, but the United States does not support the measure, Gennady Gatilov said.

"Unfortunately, this call is not supported by the US," Gatilov said at a conference hosted by the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency. "This is one of the stumbling blocks in our contacts."

The diplomat added that military contacts and information exchanges between the countries have been entirely terminated recently.

"It is therefore difficult to say that in this respect we have some form of productive cooperation with them, although we are aiming to establish it in every way," Gatilov stressed.
