PARIS (Sputnik) — He also criticized Russia's actions in Syria and blamed it for the alleged bombing of civilian objects.

"I hope that this [vetoing] will not happen. We are holding talks, we have put forward offers which will be discussed in the UN Security Council in the evening. We will see. In any case, I urge Russia not to take it upon itself to hamper ceasefire which is a necessary humanitarian move," Ayrault told TV5Monde broadcaster in an interview.

Fighting in eastern Aleppo, has intensified in recent days. The international community has frequently expressed outrage over civilian casualties resulting from the violence.

On September 28, Ayrault announced that Paris wanted to propose a draft resolution to the UN Security Council in order to end violence in Aleppo where hundreds of thousands are trapped.

On September 9, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry announced a new peace plan to address the conflict in Syria in Geneva. The ceasefire deal was later shattered by numerous violations, which resulted in intensified fighting between the Syrian government and militants in Aleppo. The Syrian government later announced an end to the ceasefire regime.
