US Maintains Contact With Ahrar Al-Sham Regarding Syria Ceasefire - State Dep't

According to the US State Department spokesperson, the country is in contact with Ahrar al-Sham over reports that the group has refused to abide by the US-Russian brokered ceasefire in Syria.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States is in contact with Ahrar al-Sham over reports that the group has refused to abide by the US-Russian brokered ceasefire in Syria, US Department of State spokesperson John Kirby said in a press briefing on Monday.

"We’re not aware of any single group that has come out rejecting it [the Syria plan] or in opposition… Ahrar Al-Sham is not designated as a terrorist organization inside Syria and therefore it is a group that we have maintained a level of contact with in terms of discussing what this arrangement means going forward," Kirby told reporters.
