Embassy Verifies Reports on Detention of Russian in Armenia on US Request

The Russian Embassy in Armenia is checking reports on detention of Russian citizen Sergei Mironov in Yerevan airport on the US request, the embassy's counsellor Oleg Shapovalov said on Saturday.

YEREVAN (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the Russian Life broadcaster reported that Mironov, 30, was detained in Yerevan airport on the request of the United States which suspects him of arms traffic.

"The Russian embassy in Armenia is looking into this issue," Shapovalov told RIA Novosti.
