The allegations of Washington's role in the thwarted coup in Turkey in July should not be an obstacle for the development of bilateral relations, the Turkish prime minister said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Allegations of US involvement in Turkey's attempted coup on July 15 should not undermine relations between the two countries, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said Wednesday.

"Nothing can deteriorate, we should not allow those things to deteriorate our relations, and today your visit is going to eliminate these misunderstandings, speculations, and we see that the American people, the American government is in solidarity with the Turkish government and the Turkish people," Yildirim said a joint press conference after holding a meeting with US Vice President Joe Biden.
