Pope Francis and French President Francois Holland held unofficial talks in Vatican on Wednesday, the Holy See press office said.

VATICAN (Sputnik) — The meeting was held three weeks after two radicalized men murdered a priest in a church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray near the French city of Rouen.

"Pope Francis had a private meeting in the Vatican on Wednesday with France’s President Francois Hollande," the press office's statement reads.

Despite informal nature of the visit, Hollande was accompanied by Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve during his trip, according to Vatican.

Earlier in the day, Hollande told journalists that terrorism, status of Christian minority in the Middle East, as well as migration crisis would be discussed during the meeting.
