Crimea is ready to establish twin-city relations with towns and villages in Jordan if such opportunities arise, Crimean Deputy Prime Minister Georgy Muradov said Tuesday.

SIMFEROPOL (Sputnik) — On Monday, a delegation of Jordanian public figures, businesspeople and former government officials, which is currently visiting Crimea, spoke in favor of broadening ties with the Russian peninsula.

"If Jordanian towns and settlements wish to establish twin-city relations with Crimean towns and districts, we will gladly provide assistance in establishing such ties," Muradov told journalists.

Russia's historical southern region of Crimea became part of the country after a 2014 referendum on the issue was carried by over 96 percent in a regional vote.
