The recent anti-terrorism initiatives agreed to at NATO’s summit in Poland are a direct result of Donald Trump’s criticism of the alliance’s inadequate approach to combating terrorism, the billionaire said in his nomination speech.

CLEVELAND (Sputnik) — Trump has been a vocal critic of the NATO alliance, which he has said relies too much on US financial support. In Warsaw, NATO announced a number of initiatives to combat terrorism, deemed a sharedl security threat to the alliance.

"Recently I said NATO was obsolete because it didn’t properly cover terrorism…Shortly thereafter it was announced that NATO will be setting up a new program in order to combat terrorism, a true step in the right direction," Trump said in his Thursday nomination speech.
