US 'Should Have Been Aware' of the Plotted Military Coup in Turkey
UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) — The UN-brokered talks on Syrian reconciliation in Geneva were put on hold in early June after the latest round ended in April.

"We don’t believe that this should have any long-term adverse effect on the work that we are doing in Syria," Farhan Haq told journalists.

There have been concerns that instability in Turkey could weaken Ankara’s control of the border with Syria and the cross-border flow of fighters and weapons.

Thousands of judiciary and senior civil service members have been removed from office in Turkey and thousands military personnel arrested since last Friday’s attempt by the military to grab power in Turkey.
