Kerry Says Moscow Talks With Putin 'Very Frank and Very Serious'

US State Secretary John Kerry said Friday his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin were frank and serious.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Kerry is currently in Moscow for talks with his counterpart Sergei Lavrov and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"That conversation last night was very frank and very serious," Kerry told reporters.

The state secretary also noted that he had held a very constructive talks on Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin and expressed hope that all "gaps" would be overcome during further talks.

"We also talked obviously about Ukraine and I appreciated President Putin's thoughts I think that too was constructive and I think we have some homework to do, but there is a possibility out of that conversation of actually making some further progress… that would extremely helpful for all of us," Kerry told reporters.

According to Kerry, Russia and the United States "still have some gaps" on the Ukrainian issue.

"My hope is that in the course of this conversation and work right now we can close these gaps and find a positive way forward," Kerry added.
