Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed a range of bilateral and international issues on the sidelines of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) forum in Mongolia's capital, the Russian government said Friday.

ULAANBAATAR (Sputnik) – The sides "discussed the situation in Ukraine, the need for mutual implementation of the Minsk agreements," the statement read.

Medvedev and Merkel also addressed the Russia-EU trade and economic relations and opportunities for their development, as well as "key issues of Russia-Germany cooperation."

In Mongolia, Medvedev is also supposed to meet Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang to discuss trade and joint projects with the country. He will also hold a meetings with Dutch Prime Minister counterpart Mark Rutte and Czech President Milos Zeman.

The 11th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM11) Summit has started in Mongolia on July 15 and will last for two days. The Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) is an informal interregional dialogue that addresses political, security, financial, economic, social and cultural issues.
