    Amber Rudd, the UK secretary of state for energy and climate change, has been appointed as the country's new home secretary, according to the statement of Downing Street.

    LONDON (Sputnik) — Amber Rudd, who until earlier on Wednesday was the UK secretary of state for energy and climate change, has been appointed as the country's new home secretary, the UK government said.

    "The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Rt Hon Amber Rudd MP as Secretary of State for the Home Department," Downing Street said in a statement.
