Moscow and Washington are not engaged in any negotiations on missile defense and disarmament after the dialogue was suspended at the initiative of the US side, Russia's Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak said in an interview with Sputnik.

US Missile Defense System is Expensive and Inefficient
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the ambassador, whenever the US side is ready to jointly seek a solution on this issue, they will be welcome.

"We would be happy, but so far I do not see it [willingness of the US side]," Kislyak said.

"There is no dialogue… It was the decision of the US administration to suspend the [US-Russia Bilateral] Presidential Commission's work, which had a large number of working groups, including on the issue of disarmament and [on issues] of military-political nature. Everything has been stopped, there is no dialogue. It was their choice," Kislyak said.

Bilateral talks on the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty have also been suspended with no new meeting planned in the near future, the ambassador added.

"The Americans have raised accusations against us, which they are not ready to reveal in detail. All this is very, very unconvincing," Kislyak noted.
