TOKYO (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in September in the Russian port city of Vladivostok, Sergei Naryshkin, the speaker of Russia's lower house of parliament, said.
"We can expect that the next meeting of the leaders of our two countries will be held at the start of September in Vladivostok during the second Eastern Economic Forum," Naryshkin said.
The Eastern Economic Forum is scheduled to be held in Vladivostok on September 2-3.
Sergei Naryshkin also said that Vladimir Putin could come to Japan on an official visit at the end of 2016.
Naryshkin is currently on a visit to Tokyo with a delegation of Russian lawmakers.
"The events that have been held – meetings and consultations – are a good springboard for holding an official visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Japan, which is likely to occur before the end of this year," Naryshkin said.
