Turkish Gov't Refuse to Charge Chelik
Despite weapons possession charges, Çelik who was involved in Russian pilot murder was freed.
"We called on Turkish authorities to take all nessecary actions to punish Çelik for the crime (death of Russian pilot Oleg Peshkov)," Zakharova said.
The Russian Su-24 combat plane was shot down by a Turkish F-16 fighter jet over Syria on November 24, 2015, and fell 2.5 miles from the Turkish border. The crew of the plane ejected and one of the pilots, Oleg Peshkov, was killed by fire from the ground, while the second pilot survived and was later rescued.
Celik was arrested alongside 13 others in the Turkish city of Izmir in early April on charges of illegal gun possession. The suspect previously said that he had not shot at Peshkov but had accepted the responsibility for the killing as a commander of a militant group. Celik insisted he had repeatedly ordered his men to take the Russian pilot prisoner, and not to shoot at him.
Situation Syria
Moreover trucks carrying weapons for terrorists were seen crossing the Turkish-Syrian border.
US State Dept Statements
US State department allegations that Russia persuits peacefull civilians and organizations under pretext of fight against terrorism are groundless, unacceptable, Zakharova said.
Anti-Missile Shield in Europe
US allegation that Russia doesn't endorse a dialogue over missile defense is not true. Let me remind you some facts. The United States delared the country is leaving the Missile Defense Tresaty.
Missile defense was intensively discussed in framework of Russian-US presidential comission. But the US has unilaterally frozen this intiative.
Russia proposed to discuss the project of European missile defense. But NATO doesn't want to discuss the issue.
NATO-Russia dialogue over the missile defense reached a deadlock. Russia however is still open for dialogue.
NATO Expansion
The Warsaw Pact was signed by the Soviet Union as guarantee of power balance. But now NATO continues expansion.
Actions by the West led by the Obama administration and aimed at folding dialogue with Russia on a variety of key security issues have led to the deterioration of strategic stability, Russian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
"We believe that such actions are an attempt to find an excuse for disappointing results of the foreign policy conducted by departing Obama administration, which seriously worsened the situation with the missile defense issue," Zakharova said at a weekly briefing.
According to Zakharova, Obama administration and NATO's refusal to conduct constructive dialogue with Russia on European security and missile defense have delivered a serious blow to strategic stability.
Sanctions
Anti-Russian sanctions is a double-edged sword. The will expressed by deputies of local assemblies in Italy and other countries proves it.
South China Sea
Moscow will not be dragged into territorial disputes in the South China Sea, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
The South China Sea contains a number of disputed islands. Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines dispute China’s claims on particular island chains in the sea, including the Paracel Islands and the Spratly Islands, while the United States has encouraged countries to practice freedom of navigation in the region.
“We closely follow the development in this region – the South China Sea. We consider the situation there a significant factor influencing the security and stability in the Pacific Rim. Russia is not a party to the territorial disputes in the South China Sea and will not be involved in them,” Zakharova told a briefing.
