MOSCOW (Sputnik) —The United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called Friday for "courage and legitimacy" in reaching peace in Israeli-Palestinian conflict at a French Ministerial Conference meeting in Paris.
"Meaningful negotiations require leadership on both sides with the courage and legitimacy to reach an historic compromise, and the political will to implement it," Mr. Ban said.
He added that Israeli and Palestinian authorities must undertake serious efforts to create the "conditions which will enable a return to meaningful negotiations."
The conference aimed at the resumption of the stalled Israeli-Palestinian negotiations is being held in Paris. The representatives of neither Israel nor Palestine are attending. The meeting is chaired by French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Jean-Marc Ayrault and inaugurated by President Francois Hollande.
