"Mr. Lazo asked me to give his regards and confirm that he will come here on a visit in June," Cuban Vice-President Miguel Diaz-Canel said before talks with Russian parliament speaker Sergei Naryshkin.
The Cuban official put emphasis on Russian-Cuban parliamentary relations that, he said, underpinned historic trade, economic, and political cooperation between the two countries.
"Russia has many times supported Cuba, including in its fight against the [US economic] blockade and the release of the Cuban Five [of national heroes] as well as the removal of the illegal Guantanamo Bay prison," Diaz-Canel said.
Cuba and Russia have enjoyed warm relations dating back to Soviet times. Moscow and Havana have a strategic partnership, and cooperate closely through ministerial and parliamentary channels
