Japan's Prime Minister has informed the G7 leaders of the results of his meeting with Russian President Putin in Sochi, and G7 participants agreed that Russia should be involved in the resolution of global problems, Japanese Foreign Ministry Press Secretary Yasuhisa Kawamura said on Friday.

ISE-SHIMA (Japan),  (Sputnik) – According to Kawamura, Abe voiced support for a unified G7 approach to the crisis in Ukraine and G7 leaders supported "the constructive involvement of Russia in the resolution of international issues, including in the Ukrainian settlement."

Earlier in May, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held rare talks in the Russian resort city of Sochi, where they discussed a wide range of political, economic and international issues.

Abe presented an eight-point bilateral economic plan during his Sochi visit. The plan covers such areas as oil and gas development and the modernization of ports and airports in the Far East.

According to Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, Putin is expected to visit Japan by the end of 2016.
