According to the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the pardoning of Ukrainian Nadezhda Savchenko and the return of two Russians back to the motherland will hardly change relations between Russia and the West.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The pardoning of Ukrainian Nadezhda Savchenko, who was serving 22 years in Russia for her involvement in the murder of two journalists, and the return of two Russians, Yevgeny Yerofeyev, who were serving 14 years in Ukraine for alleged terrorist-related crimes, back to Russia will hardly change relations between Russia and the West, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.

“We’ll put it this way, that the return of our guys to Moscow and the pardoning of Savchenko and her return to Kiev can hardly be considered that something could fundamentally change the current atmosphere, which of course we would like to see as more constructive,” Peskov said.

The 34-year-old Ukrainian was sentenced in March by a Russian court for her part in the killing of Russian journalists in eastern Ukraine. She said she would not appeal the ruling.
