MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The decision of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to attend the May 9 Victory Day celebrations in Moscow will strengthen mutual trust between the two countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Sunday.
"Without doubt, this is a sign of our special, allied relations, it is very pleasant for us, we want to thank you for this. Your gesture will strengthen our trust and create good conditions for further development of our friendly relations," Putin said at a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart.
The Russian president expressed confidence that the Moscow-Astana relations would continue developing as positively as they have in the past.
On May 9, Russia will commemorate the 71th anniversary of victory over the Nazi Germany in World War II and honor the memory of those who fought in the war in celebrations across the whole country.
