MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia hopes that the person who succeeds US President Barack Obama in the White House will be more consistent in their policies and open to reaching a consensus, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told Sputnik.
"We hope that the [next US] partner will be more open to reaching a consensus and a more consistent partner, and that this person will not try to simultaneously cooperate with us on international problems that cannot be solved without our help – and they realize this – while also claiming that we are the main threat and barring us from international financial and currency systems and pushing other nations to pursue the US anti-Russia policies," Lavrov said.
"We will wait and we will be ready to work with any US leader, hoping that he will understand the importance of Russia-US cooperation to settle the many, many problems in the world," Lavrov said.
