First Syrian Opposition Delegates From HNC Arrive in Geneva for Talks
13:55 GMT 12.04.2016 (Updated: 14:52 GMT 12.04.2016) A part of the delegation representing the High Negotiations Committee (HNC), a Syrian opposition group, arrived in Geneva on Tuesday ahead of the proximity talks with the government, a Sputnik correspondent reported.
GENEVA (Sputnik) – Other members are expected to show up on Wednesday when a new round of indirect talks between the Syrian government and opposition is scheduled to kick off in the Swiss city.
UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan De Mistura is mediating the peace process.
The chief negotiator of the Syrian opposition's High Negotiations Committee (HNC) and head of the Jaysh al-Islam group Mohammed Alloush has arrived in Geneva to join the new round of Intra-Syrian talks, the Sputnik correspondent reported.
