MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian President Vladimir Putin so far has no plans of meeting UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura during his visit to Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday.
“So far [a meeting] has not been scheduled,” Peskov told RIA Novosti.
Earlier in the day, the UN press service said de Mistura would meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday in line with the upcoming intra-Syrian talks in Geneva.
Besides the government representatives, three opposition delegations are taking part in the negotiations aimed at resolving the long-simmering Syrian crisis and ending the civil war: the High Negotiations Committee (HNC), which was formed in Saudi Arabia in December, a delegation formed following talks in Moscow and Cairo and a group formed after opposition talks at the Hmeymim air base in Syria.
The next round of intra-Syrian talks is scheduled to take place on April 11 in Geneva.
