MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The foreign minister, who is attending the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington DC, said she had informed British Prime Minister David Cameron of Australia's anti-Brexit stance.
"The EU is a significant trading partner for us — a strong UK as part of the European Union would be in Australia's interests," Bishop told reporters in Washington on Saturday, as quoted by The Australian.
The Brits are set to vote in an in/out referendum on June 23. In February, Cameron struck a deal with his 27 fellow EU leaders on reforms to be implemented in an effort to keep the United Kingdom in the bloc.
Cameron, who won the 2015 election on a promise to renegotiate the terms of Britain's EU membership, now leads the "Stay" campaign.
