UN Envoy De Mistura Waiting for Government's Proposals on Syrian Settlement
13:47 GMT 21.03.2016 (Updated: 10:55 GMT 26.10.2022) UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura began meeting with Damascus' delegation and is currently waiting for the government's proposals on the Syrian settlement.
GENEVA (Sputnik), Anastasia Levchenko — UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Monday started a meeting with Damascus' delegation in course of the Syria peace negotiations in Geneva, a Sputnik correspondent reported.
Geneva is currently hosting proximity talks between the Syrian government's delegation and opposition. Negotiators seek to put an end to the civil war that has been raging in Syria since 2011.
De Mistura is currently waiting for the government's proposals on the Syrian settlement.
The Riyadh-formed opposition High Negotiations Committee (HNC) has already submitted its detailed plan and also wants to see substantial proposals from the government.
