MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A new round of talks between the Syrian government and opposition will be held between March 14 and 24.
"All Syrians have rejected the division [of Syria] and federalism can be discussed at the negotiations," de Mistura told Al Jazeera news network.
Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad fighting numerous opposition factions and extremist groups, such as Daesh, which is banned in several countries, including Russia.
Last month, Russia and the United States brokered a ceasefire deal in Syria. The ceasefire took effect on February 27, but it does not apply to terrorist groups operating in the country.
