PARIS (Sputnik) — EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini will take part in the meeting of the top diplomats of France, Germany, Italy, Britain and the United States in Paris, a spokesman for the French Foreign Ministry said at a briefing on Wednesday.
"[French Foreign Minister] Jean-Marc Ayrault on Sunday, March 13, will receive in the Foreign Ministry of France his colleagues from Germany, the United States, Great Britain and Italy, as well as Federica Mogherini. The situation in Libya, Syria, Ukraine and Yemen is to be discussed," the ministry said.
Earlier in the day, Ayrault said that the meeting would be primarily focused on the implementation of the ceasefire regime in Syria.
Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with opposition factions and Islamist terrorist groups fighting the Syrian Army. On February 22, Moscow and Washington announced an agreement for a Syrian ceasefire, reached in accordance with the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) communique. The ceasefire took effect on February 27 and is generally holding across the country despite reported violations.
