US Ambassador to Russia John Tefft said Thursday he would meet with Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov later in the day.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia and the United States reached an agreement on the ceasefire in Syria between Damascus and the country's armed opposition groups on February 22. The truce excluded Daesh and al-Nusra Front terrorist groups.

"I'll meet with Bogdanov," Tefft told reporters, adding that the meeting would revolve around the cessation of hostilities in Syria.

On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to hold phone talks on the situation in Syria with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and UK Prime Minister David Cameron.
